Bare Bear

Join me in the Five Minute Friday Challenge hosted by Lisa-Jo Baker. Participants write for 5 minutes with no editing, no over thinking, and no backtracking. This week’s word is: Bare.

I wasn't sure I even wanted to publish this - my mind was that blank and uninspired (hey I've spent the last 24 hours cleaning up puke). But in the spirit of FMF and today’s word, I’m going to bare it all and share anyway…

(Go)

Kind of funny really that this should be today’s word. Just yesterday I was getting all excited about plans to go to a bear show later this year. A friend just couldn't help herself and was checking that it wasn't a bare show. All in the name of protecting my spotless reputation she said! Hmm…

What if I really were to bare it all? Now before your mind goes crazy – I mean my soul! If you peel away all the layers, what is left? God is the artist. We start out as a blank, bare canvas. In his wisdom he allows life to happen to us. Light and shade, sunshine and rain all add colour and depth to who we really are. The way we choose to react to a situation contributing to the beauty (or lack thereof). But without Him, we are nothing…

(Stop)

Now, your turn…

  1. Sounds like a rough night! Glad you chose to publish, grin and bare it. Oops, couldn't resist. Hope you forgive. ANd curious at what would go on at a bear show anyway.
Hope today is better and health returns to your home.

    1. I'll forgive provided you don't mind my baring it - hehe :o) To satisfy the curiosity, I was referring to a teddy bear show. Bit like a craft market but for teddies. Thanks for stopping by. Bless you heaps!

  2. Ooh, puke patrol... sorry, that's a bummer. I was rather blank too for a few minutes until I blocked out the incessant noise of my kids.

Lovely thoughts though. Thanks for writing anyway. BTW, I love the name of your blog.

  3. I can totally relate. If my mind is fried so is my writing. But, you turned out something wonderful. Are you a bear collector? So am I. I used to have nearly 500 bears until a couple of Christmases ago, I gave about 100 bears to a charity to sell for a children's home near here. The darn thing is, I'm allergic to dust, and bears collect it like crazy if you're not cleaning them all the time. And, I am an author and blogger, so where is my time? I already sacrifice so much with home and family. I thought it was nice to run into another teddy bear collector. Followed you from fiveminutefriday. Have a great day!

  4. I think it turned out well! I have had a few moments where I felt like I wasn't sure to post as well (remember the one on race where I was staring at the DATE waiting for it to change, thinking it was the time?! And then of course a silly weird post came out. The same thing happened when I was really sick and wrote the one about eating doughnuts haha. I actually asked my friend if she thought it was too weird to post ;) ) So I can relate. I did get a little giggle out of the "bare show" part. It was a cute post anyways. Have a blessed day.

    1. Everyone has been too kind (yourself included). I was really, really struggling with this one. Just sat there thinking it was funny how 'bare' had already been the topic of discussion earlier. But I love that we can be real and if a slightly odd post comes out, then so be it. Better to laugh at ourselves than get all worried about it hey!? blessings xx
