more about ASD

My eldest son has always been a bit quirky and eccentric. Hardly being the overly outgoing types ourselves we didn't think too much of it. We decided to let him grow and develop and just see who this person was that we were blessed to be parenting. But as he grew and developed he delved deeper and deeper into his own little world. The quirks grew too. We realised we were struggling to make connections with him and were all feeling a bit miserable about the situation. 

Finally I googled this 'Autism thing' folk had been telling me about. I recall sitting there with my mouth hanging open at how much some of the descriptions were our sweet child all over. A years worth of waiting, followed by another of pediatric and psychological assessments and we found out we were dealing with Asperger's Syndrome. 

While it is not the main focus of this blog, ASD most certainly affects daily life and happenings around here. As this blog takes it's inspiration from that life, mention of ASD will show up from time to time.
