A Clean Rhythm

Join me in the Five Minute Friday Challenge hosted by Lisa-Jo Baker. Participants write for 5 minutes with no editing, no over thinking, and no backtracking. This week’s word is: Rhythm.

I’m not kidding when I tell you the house is messy. That may be more of a euphemism than anything else. Life feels out of whack in general. In my head, in my home, in my heart. I’ve been too exhausted to even look at it. So I’ve granted myself some ‘Mary time’ and rested. The chaos will still be there when I’m feeling better.

A moment of inspiration. A wee burst of ‘oomph’. The dishwasher is emptied. The stack of dirty dishes on the bench shrinks as I reload.

While I’m up I might as well see what else can be done. It’s not really all that hard to carry the dirty clothes basket to the laundry and pile stuff into the machine.

Yesterday these tasks were more than I could handle. Today the rhythm of the machines (may God mightily bless the inventors thereof) is music to my soul. The mess is unraveling, shrinking, quietening down. Giving way to order, a fresh start, and peace.

Now, your turn…

  1. Yep, know that one! Sometimes it's a moral victory to get the clothes washed, dried, folded and put away ALL IN THE SAME DAY! HALLELUJAH! Been there, sister.

  2. Dear Lizzy
Oh, how I hear your heart! Having Fibro, I have learned how to do everything I need to do while being exhausted. But some days I don't even try. On those days it is a major thing just to get up and dressed. Amen for the blessing of the inventors of these machines and thanks to our Pappa for creating their talent!
    Much love XX

    1. I'm hearin' ya! CFS + flu this past few weeks has meant I've had a few too many 'don't even try' days. It shows. But one step at a time right?! blessings

  3. Yeeees. You have perfectly captured how it feels to face that mountain of "to-do's" and cringe but do it anyway, one step at a time. Keep on keepin' on!

Oh, how I love the rhythm of a home (and machines) that is working well. My loads of laundry are high tonight, but the kids are having fun and we played Big Deal as a family. Blessings abound.

Visiting from FMF and so glad I did!

    Blessings,
